Digital Media in Schools

So, the topic that I have decided to complete was option number 4 or the week 10 choice,how has digital media affected teaching in the present day and how might it be used to facilitate student engagement and learning?
I decided to choose this due to missing the overall use of media in high school and was curious about the results of how it is going for the effectiveness in students learning. For me, it was to gain an insight into how effective media has been in the education system, therefore the content of my piece cantered around different facts and figures to represent the overall effectiveness of digital media being used. I also wanted to touch on a personal note, as I too am still a student, how effective I have also found digital media to be in my daily student life.
The main strategy that I wanted to use for my podcast was one of just a conversation, I didn’t want it to seem I was talking at you, but more to you, doing this I believe it was more personal and would make it easier to relate to.
In my podcast I used bits of research to back up what I was talking about. The first was a blog post by the professional teaching board, this helped create a concrete base to the effectiveness being seen in the education system. I then moved on to look at actual research conducted in the report Social media for teaching and learning, this contained the data that I used to showcase the importance of digital media and the effect its having on education.
Unfortunately, I came across many different challenges during this task that hindered my ability to complete the task on time. Firstly, getting sick is one of a student’s worst nightmares, and can really push you back. one of the more task specific challenges that I faced was using the audio program, I was using Adobe Audition to complete this task and as it was my first time using it I ran into multiple problems, causing a few timing issues.
